VSP Investigates Fatal Two Vehicle Crash

Richmond County, VA

At 1:16 p.m. on Saturday (Apr. 24), Virginia State Police responded to a crash on Route 3 (Historyland Highway) approximately 150 Feet east of Route 611 (Conley Pond Road.)

The preliminary investigation reveals that a red Subaru WRX was traveling east on Route 3. The Subaru crossed the center-line into the westbound lane and struck a westbound black GMC 3500 pickup.

A 58 year old male, of Farnham Va., was driving the GMC. A 58 year old female, of Midlothian Va., was the front seat passenger. A two year old was in the back seat.  The adults were both wearing seat-belts, and the two year old was in a car seat. All three were transported for treatment of life threatening injuries.

Andrew M. Cogar, 32, of Farnham Va., was the driver and sole occupant of the Subaru. He succumbed to his injuries on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
