EXPECT DAYTIME DELAYS ON THE DOWNING BRIDGE NEXT WEEK

Route 360 will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic starting Monday, June 18 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has scheduled a daytime work zone next week on the Downing Bridge in Tappahannock.

Daytime lane closures are needed to allow crews to take measurements for an upcoming maintenance project.

Weather permitting, drivers can expect Route 360 to be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic the following days:

Monday, June 18 – Tuesday, June 19

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

One-way, alternating traffic on the bridge will be controlled by automated flagging stations.

Message boards are posted at both bridge approaches to notify drivers about the upcoming work zones and potential for delays.

The Downing Bridge over the Rappahannock River is located between Essex and Richmond counties.
