Two Virginia State Troopers Struck While Assisting Motorist During Winter Storm

As crews all over Virginia were working to stay ahead of the storm police, fire and rescue personnel were putting their lives on the line to assist stranded motorists. Two Virginia State Troopers have been struck since Governor Ralph Northam declared a State of Emergency for Virginia on Saturday December 8.

Despite VDOT plows making repeated passes on I-95, primary roads and high-volume secondary roads throughout Sunday and warnings by officials to stay off the roadways, Virginia State Police responded to more than a thousand traffic crashes and just shy of 1,150 disabled/stuck vehicles between 12:01 a.m. Sunday and 10 p.m Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 statewide.
