Federal Government Shutdown Hits Close To Home

The Shutdown of the Federal Government affects many jobs across the country. Here in Colonial Beach one of the affects hitting close to home is that of George Washington Birthplace National Monument.

G.W.B. Issued the following notice:

Important Shutdown Notice

During the federal government shutdown, we will not monitor or update social media.

Some George Washington Birthplace National Monument areas are accessible; however access may change without notice, and there are no NPS-provided services.

The Federal Government has enacted special instructions for government funded jobs which includes National Parks and Monuments. All non essential services will be cut such as visitor services including restrooms, trash collection, facilities and road maintenance. Road maintenance includes plowing for snow removal.
