FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Motorists planning to travel in the Fredericksburg area, Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula are asked to use extra caution on Saturday, especially in the early morning hours, as below-freezing temperatures, rain and light snow are expected to create slippery road conditions.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will mobilize starting at midnight to patrol roads for hazardous conditions. Crews will treat road surfaces with sand and salt as needed to improve traction and reduce icing. Rain is expected to begin falling overnight, and transition to light snow early Saturday morning.
Motorists are advised to check
511Virginia before starting a trip to see road conditions along their planned route.
Motorists can also download the
free mobile 511 app for Apple and Android devices to stay connected or reach 511Virginia by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.
