March 31 – April 6, 2019

I-95 Northbound
Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County)
·       Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
·       Friday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m. Saturday
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound at Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg) in Fredericksburg, and at mile marker 135, just before Exit 136/Centreport Parkway in Stafford County. The lane closure is needed for preliminary engineering work for the future Interstate 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) in Stafford County
·       Monday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 133, just north of the Rappahannock River bridge in Stafford. Expect heavy truck traffic between mile marker 132 and mile marker 134. Be alert to trucks slowing down to enter or exit the median at various construction entrances throughout the work zone. The work zone is needed for construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing.
Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road)
·       Tuesday – Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
·       Wednesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
Expect a daytime single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road) in Stafford County for construction activities with the Exit 140 diverging diamond interchange project.
On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, I-95 northbound will be reduced to two lanes at 9 p.m. and a single lane between 10:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. to allow crews to remove overhead work platforms used to build the new I-95 overpasses.
I-95 Southbound
Exit 148 (Quantico)
  • Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
  • Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Expect a single lane closure on I-95 southbound near Exit 148/Quantico in Prince William County for geotechnical boring work for the future I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road)
·       Monday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
On Monday and Tuesday evenings, I-95 southbound will be reduced to two lanes at 9 p.m. and a single lane between 10:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. to allow crews to remove overhead work platforms used to build the new I-95 overpasses.
Near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
·       Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m.
·       Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
·       Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Expect alternating single lane closures on I-95 southbound from mile marker 135, just south of Exit 136/Centreport Parkway in Stafford County to Exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg for construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing and for the future Interstate 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

Americans with Disabilities Act Ramp Repair
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 5 p.m. Crews will repair sidewalk ramps and pedestrian crossings on these routes for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). There may be temporary, alternating shoulder closures or flagging operations with this work. Motorists should be alert to a mobile work zone with crews and construction equipment at the following intersections:

·      Route 639 (Leavells Road) and the entrance to Loriella Park
Stafford County Work Zones
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway)
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect a single lane closure on Route 1 northbound and southbound between Hospital Center Boulevard and Wyche Road for a Stafford County project.
Route 3 Eastbound and Westbound 24-Hour Lane Closure
Route 3 traffic between Leonard Road and James Ashby Parkway has been reduced to a single lane for a Stafford County utility project.
Route 218 (White Oak Road)
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Drivers should expect delays and flagging operations on Route 218 (White Oak Road) between Red Baron Park Road to the King George County line for a mobile operation to install centerline rumble strips followed by striping. Expect slow moving equipment near the mobile work zone. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic near the work zone.
Route 607 (River Road) Daily Road Closures
Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Route 607 (River Road) will be closed each day during this time for a Stafford County project. A detour will be in place.
Route 630 (Courthouse Road) Widening Work:
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect brief delays with alternating, one-way traffic at the following locations:
·      Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane to Walpole Street and Austin Ridge Drive to Red Oak Drive.
·      Ramoth Church Road
·      Snowbird Lane
·      Winding Creek Road between Courthouse Road and Embrey Mill Road
·      Woodcutters Road

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
·      Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – pipe repairs and pothole patching
·      Route 609 (Raven Road) – shoulder repairs
·      Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – culvert repairs and pothole patching
·      Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – pothole patching and shoulder repairs
Spotsylvania County Work Zone
Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road )
Monday – Tuesday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect a single lane to be closed on Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) near Seays Road and Battle Park Drive to allow crews to inspect the traffic signals.
Mudd Tavern Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mudd Tavern Road near the interchange for construction. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
Mallard Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mallard Road near the interchange for construction. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
·      Route 3 (Plank Road) – brush removal
·      Route 610 (Elys Ford Road) – brush removal
·      Route 613 (Brock Road) – pothole patching
·      Route 621 (Orange Plank Road) – pothole patching
·      Route 623 (Stewart Road) – pothole patching
·      Route 627 (Gordon Road) – pothole patching
·      Route 721 (Grand Brooks Road) – pavement repairs

Caroline County Work Zones
Route 207
Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating lane closures on eastbound Route 207 between Route 656 and Penola Road to allow crews to make repairs to the bridge over Polecat Creek. Work will be underway through early April 2019, weather permitting.
Route 658 (Jericho Road)
Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 658 (Jericho Road) near the Route 601 (Cedar Fork Road) and Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) intersections for pavement repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers in the work zone. Brief delays are possible.
Route 721 (Sparta Road)
Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 721 (Sparta Road) near the Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) and Route 630 (Newtown Road) intersections for pavement repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers in the work zone. Brief delays are possible.
Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
·      Route 17 (Tidewater Trail) – ditch cleaning
·      Route 652 (Signboard Road) – pothole patching
·      Route 652 (Ruther Glen Road) – pothole patching
·       Route 684 (Drybridge Road) – pothole patching
Caroline County/King George County Work Zone
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 301 northbound and southbound near the James Madison Bridge over the Rappahannock River for a bridge maintenance project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.
King George County Work Zone
Route 3 Westbound
Monday – Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Expect flagging operations and possible delays on Route 3 westbound near Stanley Drive for guardrail repair.
Route 301 Northbound and Southbound
Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures and possible delays on Route 301 northbound and southbound at various locations for a mobile operation. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. Motorists are encouraged to avoid crossing over freshly painted lines. The paint will be wet and may adhere to vehicle. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear. A flagging crew may direct drivers in certain areas near the mobile work zone.  The mobile operation will be on Route 301 near:

·      Route 205
·      Route 206
·      Route 218
·      Route 360
Route 218 (Caledon Road)
Monday – Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Expect flagging operations and possible delays on Route 218 for guardrail repair. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic near the work zone.
Thursday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Drivers should expect delays and flagging operations on Route 218 (Caledon Road) from the Stafford County line to Caledon State Park for a mobile operation to install centerline rumble strips followed by striping. Expect slow moving equipment near the mobile work zone. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic near the work zone.
King and Queen County Work Zone
Route 14
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect brief delays and a flagging operation on Route 14 between Route 360 (Richmond Tappahannock Highway) and Route 614 (Devils Three Jump Road) for pavement repair. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic near the mobile work zone. Be alert to crews working and slow-moving construction equipment within the mobile operation.
Route 360 Eastbound
Tuesday – Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Expect flagging operations and possible delays on Route 360 eastbound near the Horse Alley intersection for guardrail repair.
King William County Work Zone
Route 30 Culvert Repairs:
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 30 at the following intersections for culvert repairs:
·      Route 702 (Industrial Park Way)
·      Route 1024 (Thompson Avenue)
A flagging crew will direct traffic at the work zone. Expect brief delays.
Route 360 Eastbound
Tuesday – Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Expect flagging operations and possible delays on Route 360 eastbound near the Horse Alley intersection for guardrail repair.
Lancaster County Work Zone
Route 3 (Mary Ball Road)
Monday – Tuesday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect a single lane to be closed on Route 3 (Mary Ball Road) near High Bank Road and Old Ferry Road to allow crews to inspect the traffic signals.
Mathews County Work Zone
Line Striping
Thursday − Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures and possible delays on various primary and secondary routes for a mobile operation. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. Motorists are encouraged to avoid crossing over freshly painted lines. The paint will be wet and may adhere to vehicle. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear. A flagging crew may direct drivers in certain areas near the mobile work zone.  The mobile operation will be at the following locations:
·      Route 3 between Route 198 and Route 14
·      Route 3 between Middlesex County line and Route 701
·      Various Secondary Routes: 602, 608, 611, 617, 618, 621, 622, 626, 642, 643 and 660.
Northumberland County Work Zone
Line Striping
Wednesday − Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures and possible delays on various primary and secondary routes for a mobile operation. Route 614
Monday − Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Expect brief delays and a flagging operation on Route 614 between Route 360 (Northumberland Highway) and Route 627 (Lake Landing Drive) for pavement repair. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic near the mobile work zone. Be alert to crews working and slow-moving construction equipment within the mobile operation.
Westmoreland County Work Zone
Route 3 Westbound
Wednesday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Expect flagging operations and possible delays on Route 3 westbound near the Route 624 (Flat Iron Road) intersection for guardrail repair.
Other Fredericksburg District Projects
Stafford County
·       Route 3 Business and Route 606 (Ferry Road) Intersection
Workis underway to improve this intersection. Motorists should be alert for construction activity on Route 3 Business and on Ferry Road between the CSX railroad crossing and Route 3 Business. For more information about the project, please visit the project page.
·       Route 608 (Brooke Road): ROAD CLOSED
Brooke Road is closed to through traffic near Eskimo Hill Road. This is a Stafford County project to realign the roadway to improve safety and drainage. The road will reopen by July 2019. For more information about the project and the detour route, please visit the county’s project page.
Spotsylvania County
·      Route 658 (Mount Olive Road) Bridge Replacement: ROAD CLOSED
Construction is underway to build a replacement bridge on Route 658 (Mount Olive Road) over the North Anna River, which will restore a connection between Hanover County and Spotsylvania County. The new bridge is estimated to open in summer 2019. Visit the project page for additional details.
King and Queen County
·      Route 660 (Sorghum Road) Bridge Replacement: ROAD CLOSED
   Construction is underwayto build a replacement bridge on Route 660 (Sorghum Road) over Mill Stream. Crews are removing the existing structurally deficient bridge, which is located between Route 619 (Owens Mill Road) and Route 721 (Newtown Road). A new structure will be installed. Weather permitting, Sorghum Road will re-open in early April 2019.
Emergency Road Repairs: Tropical Storm Michael
Emergency repair work continues to rebuild several state-maintained roads that sustained severe damage during Tropical Storm Michael. These roads require major reconstruction or replacement of pipes and culverts before they can safely be reopened. Emergency procurement methods are being used to expedite repairs.
Estimated construction schedules for the remaining closed roads in Fredericksburg District are listed below:
King William County
·      Route 662 (Sharon Road): Anticipated to reopen in August 2019.Crews will reconstruct a slope near the road and repair the culvert.
Northumberland County
·       Route 201 (Courthouse Road): Anticipated to reopen in June 2019. Crews are replacing a damaged set of four 96-inch drainage pipes with a triple set of concrete box culverts, with each culvert measuring 12 feet by 10 feet. The new culverts arrived in early March, and crews are in the process of moving them into place.
·      Route 634 (Spring Road): Anticipated to reopen in August 2019.Crews are repairing the bridge and replacing a washed out section of road.
·      Route 642 (Knights Run Road): Anticipated to reopen the week of April 1-5, 2019.Crews have replaced two 60-inch drainage pipes with two 72-inch reinforced concrete drainage pipes.
Westmoreland County
·      Route 600 (Nomini Grove Road): Anticipated to reopen in August 2019.Crews are repairing a void underneath the road and replacing a washed out section of road.
·      Route 612 (Antioch Road): Anticipated to reopen to traffic in April 2019, but repairs will continue on site through July 2019. Crews are repairing a void underneath the road and replacing a washed out section of road.
Motorists are reminded to adhere to all road closed signs and barricades, and to follow the posted detour route. Roads have been closed for traveler safety.
