Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash in Essex County
On June 30, 2019 (Sunday) at approximately, 12:12 p.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a single vehicle crash with a fatality at northbound Tidewater Trail (Route 17) at Beverly Lane.
The trooper’s preliminary investigation reveals that a 2005 GMC Sierra, driven by, Benjamin B. Ellis, 76, of Champlain, Va., was traveling northbound on Tidewater Trail when he ran off road left and struck an embankment.
Ellis was not wearing his seat belt. Unfortunately, Ellis succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
