Wake up to 72 at 6 a.m. Although it was previously predicted that there would be some rain today, the chances of rain have diminished to less than 7%.

At 9 a.m. the temperature will rise to 78 and by noon will reach 85 degrees. Partly sunny skies will wrestle with intermittent clouds.

After noon, temperatures will slowly rise through the high 80’s reaching a high of 89 by 4 p.m.

At 6 p.m. the temperature will fall slightly to 86 and dip to 78 by 9 p.m. By midnight the temperature will reach 72 degrees.

Overnight temperatures will be in the low 70’s to high 60’s. Wake up to a brisk 65 degrees at 6 a.m. on Saturday.

9th Annual Dog Day of August

Annual Dog Day of August in Colonial Beach is held each year as a memorial to Sharon Smith, who founded the event in 2011. Join us for fun, amateur games including tricks, mini-agility, find the bone, frisbee or tennis ball retrieval, water retrieval, and our famous pet parade with multiple awards including biggest, smallest, oldest, youngest, best 6 legs, best costume, and more! This is the largest and longest running annual dog event in the Colonial Beach Area Visit CBVA Colonial Beach Virginia. All dog-friendly and people-friendly dogs, and their people, are welcome. Spectators are welcome, too!

The 9th Annual Dog Day of August (2019) will hosted by Colonial Beach Rivah Dogs, CBYC – Colonial Beach Yacht Center (Robin Schick), Colonial Beach Outfitters (Karen & Doug Grisevich), Coldwell Banker Elite (Relda Schick), RMS Design (Robin Schick), and Ask Dr. Caryn (Caryn Self-Sullivan). Music by Hard To Tell, Rockabilly & Blues band.

Author Visit: Nathan Hale-Saturday, August 17, 2019

Nathan Hale is visiting the Smoot Library from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. He’ll draw live on screen and tell a brand new Hazardous Tale! Book signing to follow. Books will be available to purchase courtesy of our Friends of the Library. THIS IS A TICKETED EVENT! Tickets will be available starting August 14. You must come to the library to register and receive tickets. The program is limited to 200.

The L. E. Smoot Memorial Libray is located at 9533 Kings Highway in King George VA.

AUG. 8, 2019 UPDATE: Road resurfacing started on Wednesday, Aug. 7 on secondary streets in the Town of Bowling Green, and the first phase of the cape seal application will continue through Friday, Aug. 16, weather permitting. In the Town of Port Royal, road resurfacing is now anticipated to begin on Thursday, Aug. 15, and the first phase of the cape seal application will continue through Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Overnight milling and paving work on primary routes in Bowling Green will now begin on Monday, Aug. 19.
