CHATHAM BRIDGE CLOSED SHORTLY FOR GAS LEAK

Route 3 Business over the Rappahannock River between Stafford County and downtown Fredericksburg was closed in both directions on Saturday August 10, due to a gas leak.

Route 3 Business motorists were encouraged to use Route 1 or the Blue & Gray Parkway as an alternate route to cross the Rappahannock River on Saturday shortly after noon.

VDOT reported, the bridge between downtown Fredericksburg and Stafford County was closed to all traffic “due to a gas leak in the vicinity of the bridge.”

No details about the leak were given. However the closing was short lived and the Chatham Bridge was reopened within 20 minutes.

Weather

Wake up to 66 degrees at 6 a.m. on Sunday. Temperatures remain in the 60’s and 70 in the morning, reaching 72 by 9 a.m. and 78 by 11 a.m.

At noon the temperature breaks into the 80 reaching 83 by 2 p.m. and a high of 85 by 4 p.m.
