Algae Bloom Has Reach Colonial Beach Waters

The Potomac River Fisheries Commission reported on August 13 that Colonial Beach Waters are now showing evidence of an Algae Bloom.

The Fisheries Commission reported, “A significant algal bloom began last week, and is currently ongoing in the middle Potomac River.”

“The bloom ranges from the Rt. 301 bridge south to Vir-Mar Beach. It is mostly patchy in its distribution, but higher densities are now present from Colonial Beach to Westmoreland State Park.”
