King George – Suspect Arrested In Mendez Hit And Run

John Cecil Davis, 61 years-old of King George, was arrested today, January 16th 2020, and charged with Felony Murder and Felony Hit and Run Resulting in Death.

On October 26th 2019 at approximately 7:19 AM, King George Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a male lying on the ground on the shoulder of Dahlgren Rd. in King George. Law Enforcement and EMS responded to the scene and confirmed that the man was deceased.

Initial investigation by King George Sheriff’s Office indicated that on the evening of Friday October 25th 2019, between 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Jose Mendez Mendez, 44 years-old of King George, was walking westbound on the shoulder of Dahlgren Rd. near Hill Dr. in front of the Williams Creek Office Park when he was struck by a motor vehicle.

The driver left the scene and Mendez wasn’t located until the following morning when his body was spotted on the side of the road by a passerby who called 911. When first responders arrived they discovered that Mendez was deceased on scene.

Multiple witnesses were interviewed and physical evidence was collected and analyzed. Facts and forensics presented John Cecil Davis as the sole suspect.

Davis is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
