King George County Public works will be planning a water flushing operation in the areas Fairview Beach and Potomac Landing.
The flush has been scheduled in response to several reports of discoloration in the tap water in these areas.
“The flushing will begin at around 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day until approximately 3 p.m.” according to a county alert sent out concerning the work.
The alert also stated, “You may experience low water pressure or discolored water during the flushing.”

The county advises “If you should have discolored water during this time please run your COLD water for 5 to 10 minutes. If discoloration of water continues please call our office at 540-775-2746.”
The alert did not give any recommendation to discontinue water usage for drinking.
