Sadly a single vehicle, motorcycle accident turned fatal for the driver.
According to a press release, at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday (August 22) Virginia State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 628 (Pomona Road) approximately 1/10 of a mile east of Route 630 (Cedar Hill Road.)
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle was headed west on Route 628 when it ran off the road to the right and struck a tree stump.
Thomas E. McClellan, 47, of Westmoreland County was the driver and sole occupant of the Suzuki. He was wearing a helmet. McClellan succumbed to his injuries on scene.
No other vehicles or persons are believed to be involved in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
