Emmanuel O. Nastalon has been arrested and charged with one felony count of Arson of an Unoccupied Church and one felony count of Intentional Damage to a Church, for setting fire to Maranatha Baptist Bible Church on November 28. He is being held without bond.
According to a press release issued by Sheriff C. O. Balderson, On Sunday, November 28, 2021 at approximately 9:00AM, deputies with the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Maranatha Baptist Bible Church located at 2179 Stoney Knoll, Colonial Beach, for a report of Arson.
Surveillance camera footage revealed that a male subject ignited a wreath which was hanging on the church’s front door. The fire spread causing damage to the door as well as siding.
The footage shows the suspect left the scene on foot heading towards Hall’s Supermarket.
Additional camera footage indicated that the subject left the supermarket in a white van.
Westmoreland County Deputies canvassed the area and located the van in Westmoreland Shores Subdivision.
At approximately 11:00AM, Mr. Emmanuel O. Nastalon, 26, of Fairfax, VA, was arrested without incident. Mr. Nastalon received no bond and his first court appearance has been scheduled.
“I commend Master Deputy Antwan X. Smith, Deputy Abbey Sercombe and Master Detective Phillip Cusick for their efficient and effective efforts in apprehending Mr. Nastalon. Excellent Work!!” said Sheriff, C.O. Balderson.
