Despite a chilly morning, a handful of people turned out for the ribbon cutting ceremony for two new businesses on Hawthorne Street in Colonial Beach. COBE Workspaces Revitalization of the Historic Westmoreland Bank Building by Dodson Development Group AND Beach Paws Boutique by Ask Dr. Caryn!

The first was CoBe Workspaces which has turned the old brick building on the corner of Hawthorne and North Irving Ave into a co-working membership facility. The building is located at 100 Hawthorne Street. Office space can be rented by the day, week, month or year. Memberships will include Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen and communal area….and, of course, coffee! Rent a private office, mailbox, or conference room.

Mayor Robin Schick said she wished something like this was available to her when she first opened her business which she ran from her home for the first few years before eventually buying her own business building.

The second ribbon cutting ceremony took place at 116 Hawthorne where Caryn Self Sullivan has opened a pet shop “Beach Paws Boutique” with various pet supplies and if you’re lucky some free advice on training your dogs. Dr. Sullivan has been helping residents train dogs here in Colonial Beach for many years now. But she wanted to settle into a permanent building in the downtown area where she could offer supplies. The shop will be open everyday from now until Christmas.

Tonight don’t miss the new Colonial Beach Sip and Stroll.
