Multi Vehicle Accidents along I-95 Causing Extensive Delays

4:30 Update: FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – All lanes are now open on I-95 southbound in Stafford County.

Just after noon today, multiple crashes involving tractor-trailers, large trucks and passenger vehicles closed all lanes on I-95 southbound between mile markers 143-141 in Stafford County. 

Motorists should expect residual delays throughout the evening rush hour on I-95 southbound and Route 1 southbound as congestion clears.   

 

Update (2:25 p.m.): All lanes I-95 southbound remain closed at mile marker 142.9.  Traffic is being detoured to Route 1 southbound at Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville). Expect major delays on I-95 southbound and Route 1 southbound.  VDOT traffic signal technicians are making timing   adjustments to the traffic signals along the Route 1 corridor in Stafford County

All southbound lanes closed just before Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) for vehicle crash;

Southbound travelers should expect significant travel delays

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – All lanes of Interstate 95 southbound in Stafford County remain blocked  just before Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) due to a multi-vehicle crash at mile marker 142.9.

In addition, several other crashes have occurred within the back-up causing additional lane closures and delays on I-95 southbound.

At this time,  I-95 southbound traffic is being detoured to Route 1 southbound at Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville).

Southbound I-95 travelers should expect significant travel delays.

Traffic delays begin approximately 10 miles north of the crash site.
