WEATHER

Wake up to mostly cloudy skies and a temperature of 38 degrees at 6 a.m. The temperature will quickly reach the 40’s by 9 a.m. with a high topping out at 47 by 3 p.m. The gradual cooling will be mild only reaching 42 by midnight. There will be a chance of showers later in the day tomorrow.

COMMUTER TRAFFIC

VDOT will suspend most highway work zones and lift most lane closures on interstates and othe major roads in Virginia for New Year’s holiday travel from noon Monday, Dec. 31, until noon Wednesday, Jan. 2.

PSA:

Public Works offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday

Monday and Tuesday’s garbage will be picked up on Wednesday; Wednesday and Thursday will be picked up on Thursday; and Friday will be picked up on it’s regular day on Friday.

Public works will be closed Jan 18th, so the Friday collection day will be on Thursday, Jan 17th. There’s another holiday coming Jan 21st, so the Monday collection down on the point will be Tuesday, Jan 22nd. Schedule courtesy of Bill Taylor

The Colonial Beach School Board will hold their regular meeting on January 9 at 5:30 p.m.

The next scheduled yard debris pick up will be from January 29 through February 2 and will be on your normal trash pick up day.
