The following lane closures associated with these projects are planned for this week in Stafford County:
Interstate 95 Northbound and Southbound
Beginning Sunday night crews will be setting concrete barriers along the shoulder on I-95 northbound and southbound between mile markers 135-132 located between the Rappahannock River Bridge and Exit 136/Centreport Parkway. Drivers should expect the following delays in connection with this work:
- I-95 Southbound
Sunday, midnight – 10 a.m., Monday– Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. Single
left lane and shoulder closure
- I-95 Northbound
Sunday, midnight – 10 a.m., Monday – Thursday 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

This work is in connection with the Interstate 95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing
Interstate 95 Northbound and Southbound
Monday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Drivers can expect a single left lane closure between mile markers 134 – 136 located just south of Exit 133/Falmouth and Exit 136/Centreport Parkway. Crews will be clearing trees in the work zone during the overnight hours. All lanes will be open to traffic at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)
Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect brief delays with alternating, one-way traffic at the following locations:
- Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane to Walpole Street and Austin Ridge Drive to Red Oak Drive.
- Ramoth Church Road
- Snowbird Lane
- Winding Creek Road between Courthouse Road and Embrey Mill Road
- Woodcutters Road
- Wyche Road

Other Planned Work Zones By County
Interstate 95 Northbound
Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Crews will mill and pave the center lane overnight on I-95 northbound between mile markers 134 – 137 near Exit 136/Centreport Parkway. One lane will be closed in the work zone at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. each night.
Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 30 p.m. A single lane closure will be in place on Route 17 between Hartlake Road and the Fauquier County line for bridge work.
Patching, Paving, and Shoulder Work
This week crews will be patching, paving and placing stone along the shoulder at the following locations. Drivers should be alert to construction crews, equipment and flaggers at each location between 7:30 a.m – 7 p.m.:
- Shadow Wood Subdivison – various locations (Monday – Friday)
- Route 645 (Dunbar Road) – between Tacketts Mill Road and Rock Hill Church Road (Tuesday – Wednesday)
- Patriots Landing Subdivision – various locations (Wednesday – Thursday)
- Route 616 (Poplar Road) – between Hartwood Road and the Fauquier Road County line (Thursday – Saturday)
American with Disabilities Act Ramp Repair
Monday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Crews will repair sidewalk ramps and pedestrian crossings on these routes for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). There may be temporary, alternating shoulder closures or flagging operations with this work. Motorists should be alert to a mobile work zone with crews and construction equipment at the following intersections:
- I-95 Northbound Off-Ramp to Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway)
– Expect a single lane closure on the I-95 northbound off-ramp to
Centreport Parkway at Exit 136 interchange. A flagging crew will be
located on Centreport Parkway. The exit ramp will remain open.
- Route 1 Northbound between Cranes Corner Road and Potomac Creek Drive
- Route 1 Northbound near Route 624 (Layhill Road)
- Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) intersections with Route 3 Business and Route 212 (Chatham Heights Road)
- Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) intersections with Route 3 Business and Route 218 (White Oak Road)
I-95 Southbound On-Ramp from Route 3 Eastbound
On Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m., the on-ramp to I-95 southbound from Route 3 eastbound in Spotsylvania will be closed overnight to allow crews to repair guardrail. Drivers may either make a U-turn at Gateway Boulevard onto Route 3 westbound or travel to Route 1 southbound to the Exit 126/Spotsylvania interchange at Massaponax.
Mineral Springs Subdivision
Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Expect a mobile operation to allow crews to patch potholes on various routes in the Mineral Springs subdivision. After patching, workers will return at a later date to mill and pave. Motorists may experience a rough travel surface. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic in the work zone.
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Drivers can expect a single lane closure and shoulder closures on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the bridge over Wilcox Drive (Fort A.P. Hill) for bridge joint repairs.
Route 207 Eastbound
Monday – Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Drivers can expect alternating lane closures on Route 207 eastbound between Route 656 and Penola Road for bridge work.
Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Drivers should expect delays on Routes 639, 640 and 600 for surface treatment work. Flaggers will direct traffic through each work zone:
Route 641 (Tidemill Road)
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.Expect alternating lane closures on Route 641 (Tidemill Road) at the bridge over Sarah Creek, which is located between Route 17 and Guinea Road, for bridge repairs. Delays are possible.
King George County
Resurfacing and Safety Improvement Project
The resurfacing and safety improvement project that will result in a smoother travel surface on several high-volume roads, and reduce the risk of crashes at spot locations by adding centerline rumble strips and widening the road shoulders will continue this week. Drivers can expect overnight and daytime delays at the following locations. Crews will direct one-way, alternating traffic through each work zone.
- Route 206 – between Route 3 and Route 644 (Potts Lane)
– Sunday (July 14), 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Route 360 Northbound
Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Expect a single lane closure on Route 360 northbound between Mt. Pleasant Road to Commerce Park Drive for bridge beam repairs.
King and Queen County
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect a single lane closure on eastbound Route 14 from Route 360 (Richmond Tappahannock Highway) to Route 614 for removal and placement of snow plowable pavement markers.
Milling, Paving and Line-Striping
Motorists should anticipate lane closures and possible delays at various locations while crews mill, pave and replace existing pavement markings. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. Motorists are encouraged to avoid crossing over freshly painted lines. The paint will be wet and may adhere to vehicle. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear. A flagging crew may direct drivers in certain areas near the mobile work zone.

Route 202 (Cople Highway)
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures and possible delays at various locations on Route 202 (Cople Highway) for paving and line striping work. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. Motorists are encouraged to avoid crossing over freshly painted lines. Fredericksburg District Construction Projects
Route 3 Business and Route 606 (Ferry Road) Intersection
Workis underway to improve this intersection. Motorists should be alert for construction activity on Route 3 Business and on Ferry Road between the CSX railroad crossing and Route 3 Business. For more information about the project, please visit the project page.
Route 608 (Brooke Road): ROAD CLOSED
Brooke Road is closed to through traffic near Eskimo Hill Road. This is a Stafford County project to realign the roadway to improve safety and drainage. Recently, the county announced that Brooke Road will remain closed with a detour in place until late September 2019. Route 658 (Mount Olive Road) Bridge Replacement: ROAD CLOSED
Construction is underway to build a replacement bridge on Route 658 (Mount Olive Road) over the North Anna River, which will restore a connection between Hanover County and Spotsylvania County. The new bridge is estimated to open in summer 2019. Visit the project page for additional details.
Emergency Road Repairs: Tropical Storm Michael
Emergency repair work continues to rebuild several state-maintained roads that sustained severe damage during Tropical Storm Michael. These roads require major reconstruction or replacement of pipes and culverts before they can safely be reopened. Emergency procurement methods are being used to expedite repairs.
Estimated construction schedules for the remaining closed roads in Fredericksburg District are listed below:
King William County
Route 662 (Sharon Road): Anticipated to reopen in August 2019.Crews will reconstruct a slope near the road and repair the culvert.
(Project Complete) Route 634 (Spring Road): Crews have completed repairs to the bridge and have rebuilt the washed out section of road. Spring Road is now open to traffic.
Route 600 (Nomini Grove Road): Anticipated to reopen in August 2019.Crews are repairing a void underneath the road and replacing a washed out section of road.
