OVERNIGHT PAVING BEGINS ON ROUTE 3 AND ROUTE 208 IN SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY NEXT WEEK

Crews will be milling and paving beginning July 21 – Aug. 1;
Work will affect traffic signal operations at signalized intersections.
Beginning Sunday, July 21, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin scheduled resurfacing work to improve the ride at various locations along Route 3 and Route 208 in Spotsylvania County.
The project includes milling and paving existing pavement, replacing traffic signal loops, and installing fresh pavement markings at the end of the project.
Overnight drivers should be alert for construction crews and equipment, alternating single lane closures and rough pavement in both directions at each of the following locations:
Route 3 Eastbound
Sunday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Work will take place from just west of Route 626 (Andora Drive) to just west of Route 620 (Spotswood Furnace Road). All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Route 3 Westbound
Sunday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Work will take place from just west of Route 620 (Harrison Road) to just west of Route 620 (Spotswood Furnace Road). All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Route 208 Eastbound (Courthouse Road)
Tuesday, July 23 – Friday, July 26 and Sunday, July 28 – Thursday, Aug. 1
8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Work will take place from the Route 208 bridge over Interstate 95 to just south of the Route 1 intersection. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Route 208 Westbound (Courthouse Road)
Tuesday, July 23 – Friday, July 26 and Sunday, July 28 – Thursday, Aug. 1,
8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Work will take place from just south of the Route 1 intersection to the north end of the Route 208 bridge over Interstate 95. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Signs and flaggers will direct traffic through each work zone.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control at each signalized intersection.
