Colonial Beach School Report For December
Superintendent Dashan Turner wished everyone Happy Holidays.
Turner then reported to council, “The school division is developing a resolution to bring to you for consideration with regard to accessing the CIP (Capital Improvement Plan) fund that we recently set up and to present a Capital Improvement Plan for you all to take a look at.”
“We would like to access those funds to address our gymnasium HVAC unit at the High School.”
The school has put out an IFB (invitation for bid) on the project and they are expecting some bids to be coming soon.
Turner added, “That particular unit is failing and has reached its end of life.” The unit is original to the building when it was constructed.
The school has worked with Honey-Well to keep the unit running over the last year, however after 7 calls for repairs, Turner feels it is time to replace the unit.
In other news:
- The school will began work on the next year’s budget after the new year.
- In order to communicate with residents who do not have children in the school system, the school has began sending out news letters entitled “Anchors Away” to all residents in the mail. The first edition was mailed out a few weeks ago. Turner said the school is planning another one in late spring or early summer.
