Colorado Norovirus Outbreak linked to Virginia Water Shellfish

According the Virginia Department of Health shellfish, harvested in the vicinity of Parrott Island, have been linked to a Norovirus outbreak in Colorado.

According to the Center for Disease Control, “Norovirus is sometimes called the stomach flu or stomach bug. However, norovirus illness is not related to the flu which is caused by influenza virus.”

Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. People of all ages can get infected and sick with norovirus.”
