Colonial Beach Students Expected to Continue Studies Through Online Instruction

Good Morning Colonial Beach High School Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to share our educational plan for the time in which schools will be closed in Virginia. Teachers at CBHS have been preparing for distance learning in the event of school closure for the past week. Students will begin distance learning starting tomorrow March 17,2020. Students will receive instruction via Virtual Virginia, Odysseyware, Google Classrooms and teacher created packets.
Students who shared with staff that they did not have a device at home, received a device at the end of the school day on Friday. If you are in need of technology assistance, please email Beverly Horner at
Teachers will post assignments daily and will have online office hours from 10 am to 12 pm. Students are encouraged to reach out to their teachers during this time for immediate feedback, tutoring, remediation or answers to general questions.
Students are expected during this time to actively engage in learning to minimize disruptions to the learning process. I appreciate all of the hard work the CBHS staff has put into ensuring that our students are provided with educational opportunities during this time.
We are all sailing on uncharted waters during these uncertain times, however the opportunity for us to learn and grow presents itself. “I think that we have opportunities all around us- sometimes we just don’t recognize them.” Lou Holtz
I am available by email at

With Drifter Pride.
