This morning on June 12, 2021 Route 3 is now open in Westmoreland County.
Yesterday’s downpours and flash flooding kept motorists from being able to travel to and from Montross by way of the chandlers Mill Pond Bridge.
According to a press release from VDOT,
Route 3 in Westmoreland County has reopened to traffic near Chandlers Mill Pond, west of the Town of Montross.
Both lanes of Route 3 were closed Friday afternoon for flooding.
This morning, waters have receded and crews have inspected and cleared the road for travel. The detour route on Stratford Hall Road, Chilton Road and Zacata Road is lifted.
Numerous secondary roads remain closed for flooding or damage in the Northern Neck region, and primary road Route 202 (Hampton Hall Road) remains closed in Northumberland County.
Real-time updates on roads affected by heavy rain and flooding are available on 511virginia.org. A text list of roads is available to search by locality.
