PIT Maneuver Ends Police Chase

According to Stafford County Police Pursuit Suspect, 18 y/o Shiekh Muneeb, of Fredericksburg is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond after a police chase on September 18, 2021.

A pursuit yesterday evening initiated by Virginia State Police ended with a perfectly executed PIT maneuver by a Stafford Sheriff’s Office sergeant.

At 7:46 p.m. last night, Deputy R.M. Connelly observed a black Lexus approaching him southbound in the 2700 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at a high rate of speed, with a Virginia State Trooper in pursuit.

As the Lexus passed Deputy Connelly, the driver swerved and struck the fender of the patrol car causing minor damage.

Deputy Connelly radioed the Emergency Communications Center and joined in the pursuit as the suspect continued south on Jefferson Davis Highway at speeds well above the posted speed limit.

The suspect turned onto Bells Hill Road at double the speed limit, emitting a shower of sparks as his driver’s side tires were both deflated and the vehicle was riding on the rims.

The suspect traveled the length of Bells Hill Road and then continued south on Jefferson Davis Highway, passing through several red traffic signals and reaching speeds over 100 mph.

Sgt. G.A. Haney joined the pursuit and executed a perfect PIT maneuver near Centreport Parkway.

The suspect vehicle did a 180 degree turn and came to rest with the driver’s side against the guardrail. A high risk stop was conducted and the suspect was arrested without incident.

The suspect was identified as Shiekh Muneeb, 18, of Fredericksburg.

Muneeb was charged with felony eluding, hit and run, reckless driving, no operator’s license and several equipment and traffic violations.

He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
