Police are investigating the death of a local Colonial Beach Man who was found deceased near his home in Colonial Beach Virginia. The man, 73 year old, Mr. William S. Hopewell was reported missing by family members who pleaded on social media for folks to be on the look out for him.
Mr. Hopewell was last seen on March 16, 2022 walking along Macedonia Road in Westmoreland County. His family last spoke with him on March 16, 2022, which was by phone.
On March 27, Virginia State Police announced their involvement in the investigation at the request of Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office.
State Police located Mr. William S. Hopewell, 73, Tuesday morning (March 29, 2022) while conducting a ground search on and around his residence in the 800 block of Macedonia Lane in Colonial Beach.
His remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for examination and autopsy.
The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Richmond Field Office has initiated a death investigation following the discovery Mr. Hopewell.
