Emergency Road Repairs: Tropical Storm Michael
Emergency repair work continues to rebuild several state-maintained roads that sustained severe damage during Tropical Storm Michael. These roads require major reconstruction or replacement of pipes and culverts before they can safely be reopened. Emergency procurement methods are being used to expedite repairs.
Estimated construction schedules for the remaining closed roads in Fredericksburg District are listed below:
King William County
Route 662 (Sharon Road): Anticipated to reopen in August 2019.This is a new date from the previously estimated reopening date of Jan. 21, 2019. The original date was based on an initial damage assessment after the storm. Crews will reconstruct a slope near the road and repair the culvert.
Northumberland County
Route 201 (Courthouse Road): Anticipated to reopen in June 2019. This is a new date from the previously estimated reopening date of Feb. 28, 2019.
