Unbelted Dunnsville Women Dies In Single Vehicle Accident

Dunnsville Woman Killed in Single Vehicle Crash 
According to a press release issued by Virginia State Police:
On August 19, 2019 (Monday) at approximately, 10:56 p.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Lake Road, 50 feet north of Coan Harbor Drive in Northumberland County.
Trooper R. Cullison’s preliminary investigation reveals that a 2000 Ford Explorer, driven by, Wayne C. Arthur Jr., 32, of Heathsville, Va. was traveling northbound on Lake Road when he ran off road, over corrected, losing control, and overturning the vehicle.
Arthur and a 2-year-old backseat passenger was seat belted and properly secured in a child safety seat. Arthur and the 2-year-old passenger were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  
The front seat passenger identified as, Toniqua L. Ruffin, 25, of Dunnsville, Va., was not wearing her seat belt.  Unfortunately, Ruffin succumbed to her injuries.
Speed is being considered a factor into the cause of the crash and charges are pending at this time.
The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team.
