Two Fatal Crashes Took Place in Louisa County Over the Weekend
According to Public Information Officer Sergeant Dylan Davenport, Louisa County suffered two fatal car accidents during the weekend. Virginia State Police are investigating a total of 4 crashes that occurred over the weekend. These accidents claimed lives and left VSP Troopers encouraging motorists to use seat belts, approved motorcycle helmets, and to avoid driving while fatigued.
Virginia State Police responded to a crash on I – 64 at the 162 mile marker.
According to the press release:
A 2008 Ford F150 headed west ran off the road to the left, struck a tree, and caught fire.
Leonard L. Taylor Jr, 39, of Kents Store, Va succumbed to his injuries on scene. ( Kents Store is an unincorporated community in Fluvanna County)
The investigation indicates a gradual departure from the roadway without braking prior to impact. (This might indicate the driver fell asleep but the report did not state that specifically)
Taylor was the driver and sole occupant of the Ford and was wearing a seat belt.
The second fatal accident Virginia State Police are investigating in Louis County from this weekend, occurred at 8:09p.m. on Sunday (Oct 3)
Virginia State Police troopers responded to a fatal crash in the 14400 block of Route 22 (Louisa Road).
Four vehicles involved in the accident received damage and Three drivers were transported for treatment of their injuries which were not believed to be life threatening. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
However one driver died at the scene. (VSP has not released the driver’s identity yet.)
